While attending high school in Bogota, Colombia I joined the last iteration of what music bloggers now call “a seminal Latin rock garage band” named Wallflower Complexion. We later turned psychedelic and became Flower Children, and year after that …Steel Wool. That’s me on the right on the 12-string and under the white wool hat.
In college in Pennsylvania, I was a member of AJ Crappy’s Blues Band. That’s me singing and playing maracas.
For the last several years, I’ve played lead guitar and sung background vocals for Funky G & the Soul Machine in Los Angeles. Being a member of a band again has renewed my interest in writing songs. After all this time, I believe I’ve finally found my “voice.”
My influences? Major influences start with the Beatles and include everyone from Eddie Paliermi, to Stravinsky, Tito Puente, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, John Prine, Curtis Mayfield, Shubert, the Kinks, Radiohead, Gato Barbieri, Charlie Parker, and others.
